Studio Policy

AUGUST 2025 – MAY 2026

Upon signing up for lessons, the student/parent will be asked to read the studio Policies and Procedures and sign/date the document. By enrolling and signing, you agree to respect and abide by the studios’s current policies as long as the student is taking lessons with the instructor.

Parent/Caregiver

You are encouraged to be supportive and an active participant in practice at home. You are welcome to observe the lesson so you can help your child/student practice successfully. Your role in their learning process is crucial.
Students are responsible for arriving at lessons on-time, with correct books. They are expected to complete their practice and play for enjoyment.

Late arrival times will not be made up as we often have other students or commitments immediately around lesson times. Please communicate with us regarding any questions you might have.

Tuition

Tuition is a per month charge, not per lesson. The number of lessons are averaged over 10 months so that you always have the same monthly payment, regardless of how many lessons are in a month. Holidays are factored in.

Tuition rates are based on a calendar of 35 weeks this academic year (August 2025-May 2026). Please note: A total of 37 lessons are provided on the calendar. The other unpaid two (2) weeks of the year are reserved for the teacher to take off from lessons as needed (due to sickness, teacher conference attendance, family emergency, etc). If the teacher chooses not to use all two “flex weeks”, the student benefits by receiving those lessons free.

Automatic monthly payments are accepted via the MyMusicStaff platform. Parents/students should create an account and add their payment method. A discount is offered when paying for a semester or year via check only. Tuition is due on the 1st of each month. A $15 late payment fee is assessed for any payment received after the 7th of the month. Account balances left outstanding for more than two weeks, will result in suspension of lessons until the balance is reconciled.

There is a non-refundable annual $72 registration fee. This holds your spot in the studio and goes towards the cost of materials, a method book and supplemental music throughout the year. Fees cover the cost of tuition, extra group lessons, a recital, studio teaching materials, preparation for each class, teacher continued education and maintenance of piano studio. Optional events such as examinations, festivals, piano tuning/maintenance and attendance to concerts will be paid for by the student/parent.

The teacher reserves the right to raise fees at the beginning of the academic year.

Non-Attendance

We charge for the reservation of the student’s time slot and do not guarantee make-up lessons or offer refunds when a student does not attend their scheduled time. A non- attended lesson is considered a forfeited lesson.
If you are unable to attend a scheduled lesson, you may choose one of the following options:

Online Lesson: It will take place during your regularly scheduled lesson time
Video Lesson: Student’s lesson time will be used to design an assignment
Group Programs: Students can join another group. This option can only be used twice during each semester and during a two week period after your absence. Please contact the teacher to schedule it. It does not apply for the Piano Readiness Program
Individual Program: Students can opt for a virtual or video lesson. You are also welcome to join a group class. This option can only be used twice during each semester.

Please note, these options are ONLY available to those who provide advanced notice of their absence (at least 24 hours). In the case of inclement weather or events such as the Covid-19 pandemic, lessons will be done online via Zoom.

Lesson Termination

Lessons may be canceled by the parent/guardian/student by giving a 30-day written or emailed notice and payment in full of all funds outstanding. Fees will include lessons for the final month and students are welcome to receive regular lessons during those 30 days. Lessons may be terminated by the teacher in the event of on-going irregular payment or attendance, disruptive behavior, equipment damage or breach of these terms and conditions.

Sick Policy

Students missing school the day of their scheduled lesson due to illness should not attend their lesson that day. Any person with COVID-19 symptoms, or positive COVID test within the last 5 days MAY NOT attend in-person lessons. Instead, opt for a virtual lesson, send a video with student’s progress or a video will be recorded by the teacher during their lesson time. Students should be vomit-free and fever-free for a minimum of 48 hours before attending a lesson at the studio.

All sick policies apply to those coming inside to make use of the waiting area and/or bathroom. Any ill-feeling accompanying parties are kindly asked to wait in their vehicle.
We reserve the right to end a lesson at any point due to concerns about sickness.

Injury Policy

You assume all risk of injury or harm to the child(ren) or adult(s) associated with participation in this musical activity at the P&D Music Education studio and by enrolling in our programs parents agree to release, indemnify, defend and forever discharge P&D Music Education and its staff from all liability, claims, demands, damages, costs, and expenses in the unlikely event of injury sustained by your child(ren) or adult student during the course or as a result of this musical activity. The term musical activity includes all modes of transportation, including walking to and from associated events. Parents are responsible for supervising and safeguarding their children and/or invitees at all times while on the premises of P&D Music Education studio and events.

Group Program Changes

We understand that unforeseen circumstances may cause a student to withdraw from a group program before the end of the year. If a new student cannot join, the remaining students should switch to a program that fits the number of students enrolled.

At the Studio

Please arrive no more than 3 minutes before the lesson. Park in our driveway or in one of the visitors parking spots.
You are welcome to come in and observe the lesson or stay in your car if desired. As it is a small gated community we kindly ask you not to walk around the grounds.

Please remove shoes on arrival at the front entryway, wear socks and wash hands with soap and water in the studio bathroom. Hand sanitizer will be available in the studio as well.
Please limit the number of accompanying parties as much as possible.
Remember that all children MUST be supervised at all times.

Communication

Parents/caregivers and adult students are welcome to contact us during daytime hours to discuss any matters associated with the student’s education.
The prefer way to contact us is via email or text message.
Lessons are only conducted on weekdays.
