Preschool Friends

We meet once a week for 45 minutes to learn about the piano and discover its many secrets!
Preschool Friends is a readiness program. Lessons with movement and rhythmic games, singing and of course hands-on piano time will stimulate the innate musicality of your child, preparing them for future piano lessons.
Imagination is our tool of choice to present musical experiences and explore different concepts.
Expect lots of singing and playing at home. Children like to brag about the songs they just learned at the piano!
A well tuned acoustic piano or a digital piano is highly recommended at home.

Piano Friends
We are serious players!
4 students
Most 6 years olds have developed enough coordination, self-control and focus to start learning an instrument. Piano Friends is the program to begin formal but creative piano lessons. Once a week for 45 minutes this class progressively builds musicianship, healthy technique and proper body posture at the piano.
To concentrate on expression, technique and aural skills we learn songs by rote. Creativity is at the core of each lesson and it is encouraged through improvisation and composition. These activities paired with playing games, singing and moving give our students the musical language and experiences that later will translate into concepts. During this program our music literacy process begins and each student receives a piano method book for class and home practice.

Buddy Piano Lessons
The perfect blend between private and
group lessons

This class offers each student a 60-minute lesson in total once a week — 30 minutes of direct individual session and 30 minutes learning together.
Who can be a buddy? It could be a friend, a sibling or another studio member.
During the overlapping time, students play games that develop aural and ensemble skills, composition and theory. The one-on-one class is tailored to the student’s individual learning style and skill level. A piano method book is given for class and home practice (included in registration).

Individual Piano Lessons
We are committed players!
6+ years old – In-person/online on zoom
Individual lessons are great for those students who learn and feel better in a one-on-one environment. Lessons are tailored to the need and learning style of each student. Student’s parents/caregivers are expected to provide support at home with different activities and practice. This is especially important for young students.
Movement is present in our lessons as it plays an important part in the development of different skills and the understanding of various music concepts. Improvisation and composition are also encouraged from the very beginning. Games are used as a resource to introduce theory and to strengthen aural and rhythmic skills.
Pieces are taught by rote in order to concentrate on technique and tone production. These pieces will allow students to explore the entire keyboard and play more advanced music than they can read. Music literacy is developed through an intervallic approach and it is part of a process that requires practice and commitment.
All students are invited to join separate group classes (at no extra cost) that are offered during the year. These classes provide a great opportunity to perform, to know other musicians and to play music together!
Weekly 45- and 60-minute lessons are offered to all students. Weekly 30-minute lessons are offered to the beginner student.

For Parents/Caregivers
You are welcome and encouraged to attend and observe the lesson. By learning along with your children you are supporting them and gaining the skills to guide them at home. Young children, especially, need all the assistance they can get. Your role in their learning process is crucial.
